Greek composer Mikis #Theodorakis died yesterday in Athens at 96. His long-time friend Asteris Koutoulas (Berlin) describes him as a #composer who saw #avantgarde as "to think with/of the audience/listener".
Theodorakis is loved by the Greek through all levels of society & has world-wide recognition all the way into Hollywood.
I had the pleasure to be a player of "Mauthausen" in Washington's Holocaust Memorial w/ his long-time voice Maria Farantouri 1999.
A big loss.
Sail on lightly, Mikis.
I saw this movie recently and I enjoyed the cinematography and the sound design

"Ponao" is an album with works by 37 composers protesting against police brutality in Greece. It was released in March 2021.
From this album I especially enjoyed the following two pieces:

I just finished this. It's a long and slow electronic piece, inspired by the empty streets of Athens during the curfew.
Made in a linux environment with free software
